What Wallet?
When I say wallet, I don't mean that you should take your leather wallet and plug it into the computer.
Here's how to get your Ethereum wallet to begin using Web3.
Get a Wallet
There are many wallets out there. I recommend Rainbow or Coinbase Wallet.
You can also see Ethereum.org's list of wallets.
Another option is a Base Account (formerly Smart Wallet), used in Coinbase's upcoming Base App.
Create one at the Coinbase Wallet website, click "Create a wallet" then "Create an account".
Look here, Redditors!
If you use Reddit, you might have a wallet already.
See my Mirror post about Reddit's crypto to learn more and move your wallet to another app.
A Reddit Vault wallet is a standard wallet, so doing this is optional if you plan to use a smart wallet.
Reddit does not support any form of external wallet, including smart wallets.
Keep your wallet safe
Protecting your wallet is as simple as keeping the 12-word recovery phrase safe.
It looks like this (I used a random BIP39 generator for this): boring sword into mother segment warfare angle filter tomorrow craft there patrol
Don't share your real recovery phrase; anyone with it can use the assets your wallet holds.
Base Accounts (Smart Wallets) are controlled by a passkey saved to your device or password manager.
You can also optionally create a recovery phrase (similar to the one for the standard wallet) in case you lose the passkey.
